Light a Candle, Magically
I've known about this trick for a while (I think I saw it on Mr. Wizard when I was a kid); however, I have yet to personally meet anyone who is familiar with it. The video included with this post demonstrates the trick:
- Blow out a lit candle.
- Allow the smoke to rise from the wick.
- Hold a flame in the smoke rising from the wick.
- Watch as the candle "magically" re-lights.
If I remember correctly, I believe what's happening is that the flame causes the combustible materials in the smoke to ignite sending the flame back down the smoke to the wick.
